The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) has awarded a competitive Emerging Issues grant to Dr. Mahmud Mossa-Basha, his co-PI Dr. Swati Rane Levendovszky, Ph.D. and their multi-disciplinary team, in the amount of $100,000 pertaining to Post-Acute Sequela of COVID imaging. This grant leverages and builds upon a previous larger investigator-initiated industry grant the investigators had previously been awarded.

The team will be investigating advanced neuroimaging, clinical, and serological biomarkers in patients with long COVID, compared to patients who have recovered from COVID. They will compare long COVID biomarkers with those of patients with vascular cognitive decline, to determine potential parallels in pathophysiological processes.

This study could inform outcomes in long COVID patients and potentially help better manage patient symptoms and improve patient recovery.
