Looking For In Residency: I had three must-haves: an exceptional training reputation, a friendly and welcoming learning environment, and then a location with access to nature and endless things to explore and do.
UW Strengths: All of the above! I know I’m going to be supported and challenged here with endless opportunities to explore career and research interests. Then after work I can go hop in the lake or go to the beach or hike a mountain.
Advice: I think most radiology programs are going to train you well with a similar breadth of cases. It should come down to where you think you’ll be happiest for the next four years, so trust your gut if you get a weird vibe during an interview (especially in the virtual environment!) Also think hard about what you want in a location - unlike many other residencies, you will have time to explore the area and new hobbies!
Hobbies: Anything on or near the water! I also love hiking, endurance running, strength training, trying new restaurants, pizza-making, and any excuse to travel and explore a new place.
Clinical Interests: Currently undecided re: fellowship. I had a past career in data analytics so the intersection of radiology with informatics is of interest. As well as medical education, mentorship, and increasing diversity within radiology.
