Cyclotron – General Information
- 11 MeV proton accelerator
- H2 ionized and accelerated.
- background vacuum ~5x10-8 torr with 4 diffusion pumps.
- magnet contained, beam focused [deep valley].
- H- -> H+ via thin/thick foils.
- 2 beamlines
Extractors
We use 2 thicknesses of vacuum deposited, carbon extractor foils:
Beam Line 1
Beam line 1 has accommodations for 8 targets with stepper motor control. Currently, we have a silver, 18F target and an aluminum 13N target.
Beam Line 2
Beam line 2 has accommodations for 4 targets with stepper motor control. Currently, we have a tantalum, 18F target and an aluminum 11C target, and an aluminum target with provision for metal foils.
