Biography
Dr. Matthew Abad-Santos serves as an Assistant Professor and the Associate Program Director of IR Residency Programs at the Interventional Radiology Section at the University of Washington. Dr. Abad-Santos graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He then received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine where he also completed his general surgery internship. Dr. Abad-Santos returned to Southern California to complete his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Following residency, he traveled to the Pacific Northwest where he completed his Independent Interventional Radiology Residency at the University of Washington and soon after joined the faculty in 2022. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and board–eligible for Interventional Radiology.
His interests include education, venous interventions (management of deep vein thrombosis, inferior vena cava filter management, and treatment of pulmonary embolism), hepatobiliary disease (portal hypertension management and biliary disease), interventional oncology (percutaneous and catheter directed therapies), trauma interventions, and dialysis access interventions.
