Residents Zhonghao Cui and Anisha Banda attend CIRSE

Interventional Radiology resident Anisha Banda, MD, MS, and I presented our project “Outcomes and Complications of Tunneled Pleural and Peritoneal Catheters – A Retrospective Review” at the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) 2024.

This grant-funded experience allowed us to attend CIRSE 2024, which is the largest international interventional radiology conference in the world. It gave us  the opportunity to learn about techniques and devices not yet available in the United States, as well as connect with interventional radiologists and other trainees all across the world. I personally signed up for several hands-on workshops and cadaver workshops to further develop my interventional skills and learn from international leaders in the field.

The grant from the Charles A. Rohrmann, Jr., MD, Endowment for Radiology Resident Educational Excellence made the entire trip to CIRSE 2024 financially possible. Anisha and I were able to participate in workshops and demonstrations at CIRSE, while also meeting trainees from all across the world and representing UW Radiology with our work. We attended several symposiums, including a talk given by one of our IR attending as well.
