Anum Kazerouni, Ph.D., awarded Earlier.org pilot grant

Congratulations to Anum Kazerouni, Ph.D. who has been awarded a pilot grant by Earlier.org for her research proposal titled, “Improved breast cancer screening and lesion diagnosis with ultrafast dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE-) MRI.”

This research represents an exciting new opportunity for earlier detection of breast cancer. The goal of this pilot project is to improve the accuracy of breast MRI as a screening tool using an ultrafast DCE-MRI technique. This approach can potentially enable more cost-effective abbreviated breast MR exams and broader access to MRI as a breast cancer screening technology, as well as improve biologic characterization of breast lesions to aid in tailoring clinical care.

Dr. Kazerouni also recently received the Quantitative Imaging Network (QIN) Young Investigator award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at their conference in May.

Earlier.org (Friends For An Earlier Breast Cancer Test) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for research into earlier detection methods for breast cancer. Since its inception in 1995, the organization has awarded more than $4.5 million in seed grants to qualifying projects.
