Dr. Anum Kazerouni, PhD, granted NIH Pathway to Independence Award

UW Radiology postdoctoral scholar Dr. Anum Kazerouni, PhD, has been awarded the National Institutes of Health K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award for her project, “Quantitative characterization of tumor heterogeneity using habitat imaging for the prediction of patient outcome in triple negative breast cancer.” Sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, this grant is intended to support the growth of a strong research program, created and sustained by an independent research scientist.

The K99 award provides postdoctoral researchers support in the transition into independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions through mentored training and career development.

Dr. Kazerouni is a part of the University of Washington Quantitative Breast Imaging Lab (QBI), a lab dedicated to researching new imaging techniques to progress the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The QBI Lab’s director, Savannah Partridge, is also Kazerouni’s mentor for the K99 phase.
