Postdoctoral researcher Anum Kazerouni, PhD, was awarded the Helen Marcy Golde Breast Cancer Postdoctoral Scholar Enrichment Award this spring on May 14th. On behalf of the Breast Cancer Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC), this award is endowed with a $5,000 gift. The gift is intended to support professional development for University of Washington (UW) postdoctoral scholars, whose research focuses on breast cancer, to support early career development, networking and collaboration.

A luncheon was hosted where Dr. Kazerouni met with the Golde family who have provided this funding in memory of their young daughter/sister who was treated at the UW and who passed away from metastatic breast cancer. Dr. Kazerouni, who works at the UW Quantitative Breast Imaging Lab, discussed her research and strategies for next steps in academic research in breast cancer at the UW and FHCC at the lunch.

The intent of the award is to support professional development opportunities that best meet the recipient’s needs, within the parameters of the award and policies of the UW, including those defined in the established collective bargaining agreement. An example of of this might include travel to, and attendance of, an educational conference.

We offer our congratulations to Dr. Kazerouni!
