Biography
Dr. Charles Hua is board-certified in Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington, where he has been a faculty member since 2023. He began his clinical practice in 2020 in Southern California, following an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai, New York, where he also served as Chief Interventional Radiology Fellow.
Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Dr. Hua earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine. He then traveled to New York for a Diagnostic Radiology Residency and served as Chief Diagnostic Resident at Mount Sinai West. During his residency, Dr. Hua was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.
Dr. Hua is an expert in the trans-radial technique, employing wrist access for a variety of oncology interventions, uterine embolization for fibroids and prostate embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia. His expertise in this technique enhances patient comfort, improves patient satisfaction, and contributes to better procedural experiences. His clinical interests include cutting-edge minimally invasive treatments for liver and kidney tumors, ablative therapies for tumors in soft tissues and extremities, and advanced treatments for acute and chronic deep vein thrombosis and portal venous interventions related to portal hypertension.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hua is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of interventional radiologists. He applies his expertise to deliver precision care and enhance patient outcomes, consistently prioritizing the needs and well-being of his patients.
