Biography
Dr. Richardson is a UW professor emeritus of radiology and was formerly an adjunct professor of orthopedic surgery. He is expert in advanced musculoskeletal imaging. Besides his research in musculoskeletal imaging, he has also published a number of papers and books on educational technology.
Dr. Richardson earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from Texas A & M University, followed by an MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After an internship at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, he entered the United States Air Force as a USAF staff internist. After completing a residency in diagnostic radiology at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis AFB, he then served as a USAF staff radiologist. After leaving the Air Force, he underwent a year-long fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and has served several times as an oral board examiner for the ABR.
Following fellowship, Dr. Richardson joined the UW radiology faculty in 1984. During his time at UW, he has taken a number of graduate courses in biostatistics and medical informatics. He is listed in “The Best Doctors in America” directory, and has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications and 10 books. He is a member of numerous radiology societies.
