Robert Goiney, MD

Dr. Goiney is a board-certified radiologist recently retired from Seattle Radiologists with nearly 30 years’ experience working in radiology. Dr. Goiney was responsible for the installation of one of the region’s first MRI scanners at Northwest Hospital, in 1985. He is the former director of Northwest Hospital MRI, specializes in MR and CT imaging, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology. He worked as one of the initial members of the Neurosurgical Gamma Knife Team at Northwest Hospital.

He completed his fellowship in Ultrasound, CT and MRI at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. in 1984, and fulfilled his residency in diagnostic radiology and served as Chief Resident at the University of Washington in 1983. Prior to his residency, Dr. Goiney served his internship at Swedish Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle.

Dr. Goiney completed his undergraduate work in Biology and earned his medical degree at the University of Washington. Faculty appointments at his alma mater include Assistant Professor and Clinical Assistant Professor within the University’s Department of Radiology.

Dr. Goiney has been professionally affiliated with the American College of Radiology, the King County Medical Society, Washington State Medical Association, and the Radiological Society of North America.

Dr. Goiney is a former track and cross-country runner for UW and Club Northwest Running Club, where he was an officer. He participates in several outdoor sports
