All steps refer to a minimum timeframe for approval. The approval process for each step could take up to several weeks longer.

  1. IACUC Application for Imaging:

    IACUC application: imaging approval
    Imaging specifications are required on your IACUC protocol.  It must include the following:
    (1) imaging devices and procedures to be performed
    (2) agents to be administered (ie. contrast, anesthetics)
    (3) personnel performing the imaging
    (4) number of animals
    (5) imaging frequency, session duration, maximum number of sessions, and interval between sessions.
    (6) After IACUC approval: confirm budget with UW billing department

  2. UW Imaging-Specific Access and Training

    Bruker 14T MRI
    (1) Submit Bruker 14T MRI Protocol Application Form
    (2) Complete MRI Safety Screening
    (3) Schedule device use

    Philips 3T MRI
    (1) Submit Philips 3T MRI Animal Project Application Form
    (2) Complete MRI Safety Screening
    (3) Schedule device use

    Hamamatsu PET
    (1) Complete Radiation Safety Training
    (2) Obtain dosimeter badge and ring
    (3) Schedule device use

    Inveon Small Animal PET-CT
    (1) Submit PET-CT Project Application Form
    (2) Complete Radiation Safety Training
    (3) Obtain dosimeter badge and ring
    (4) Schedule device use
