Biography

Dr. Joseph Reis is the Director of Interventional Radiology and an interventional radiologist at the Seattle Children’s Hospital with seven years attending experience.

He has been an attending interventional radiologist since 2015, first as an Associate Professor of Adult Interventional Radiology (IR) at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Director of Pediatric IR at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY. During that time 70-80% of his practice was focused on adult procedures, particularly TIPS, PTC, ablation, sclerotherapy, trauma embolization, central venous access, biopsies and drainages as well as interventional oncology and all types of pediatric IR. He supervised new attendings, fellows and residents in this role.

In 2018, Dr. Reis moved to Seattle to be an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. His current work is predominantly pediatric with adult privileges. Common procedures performed are transplant interventions, vascular malformation treatments, ablations, enteric access, central venous access, and lymphatic interventions.

He is the IR representative for enteric access and have incorporated primary retrograde balloon retention GJ placements into our practice, as well as the primary IR representative for the transplantation service. Academically, Dr. Reis serves as the pediatric IR site director for the residency program allowing him to continue didactics with residents and fellows. His research interests include cost analysis, quality control, enteric access, and transplant interventions.
