Looking For In Residency: I was looking for a program that provided strong clinical training, the opportunity to work in a variety of different clinical settings ( trauma 1 hospital, university hospital, VA ect), the ability to get involved in research and the chance to live in a place with easy access to nature, hiking, camping ect ( like Seattle!)
UW Strengths: Amazing co-residents! The breadth of cases that we are exposed to coming from all over the WWAMI region.
Advice: It's important not only to think about the training environment within a program but also the location that the program is in and how living there will affect the quality of your life outside of work! Residency has plenty of challenges so it can be helpful to think about how a location may affect your support system and access to the things that you love doing and make you happy outside of work.
Hobbies: Going hiking with my husband and dog, exploring the Seattle brewery scene, running, biking, playing Civilization 4.
