Radiology EDI Program featured on UW Medicine’s ‘The Huddle’

The Radiology Department’s Build-a-Pipeline subcommittee (part of the department’s larger Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee) was featured on ‘The Huddle,’ a news and culture site for everyone who works at UW Medicine.

The article featured Build a Pipeline subcommittee co-chairs Drs. Hubert Vesselle and Safia Cheeney, and the programs the subcommittee created for underrepresented minority students in medicine.

The Radiology Weekend Immersion Program, held in April, hosted nine students from local organizations including the Technology Access Foundation, which is focused on increasing access for underrepresented minority students in STEM and medicine. The program included 30 Radiology faculty and staff over the course of two days.

The article also highlights our upcoming paid summer internship, which will host six students from August 8 through September 2, in collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology.
