Newsweek names UW Medical Center one of world’s best hospitals
Newsweek recently named University of Washington Medical Center one of the “World’s Best Hospitals 2022.” UW Medical Center (UWMC) ranked 88th in the world, and was also the highest ranking hospital in Washington.
This year’s rankings added three new countries to the list—Colombia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—bringing the total to over 2,200 hospitals in 27 countries, according to Newsweek. The U.S. leads with 33 hospitals, followed by Germany with 14; Italy and France with 10 each; and South Korea with eight.
Scores were calculated for each hospital in each of the three categories and weighted: Peer recommendation (50% national, 5% international), patient experience (15%), and medical Key Performance Indicators (30%).
UWMC is often ranked highly in statewide and national ranking lists, and has been ranked Number 1 in Washington State by US News and World Report since 2012.
