Pediatric Interventions

1. Pediatric interventions

Interventional Radiologists may offer a wide variety of minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for pediatric diseases. Virtually all procedures that are offered to adults in Interventional Radiology may be performed in children including central venous catheter placement, dialysis line placement, port placement, biopsy, abscess drainage, gastrostomy placement, lumbar puncture, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt creation, and microwave ablation of tumors. These procedures offer minimally invasive, non-surgical solutions, and are performed through a pin-hole sized incision that leaves virtually no scars. Procedures are performed with general anesthesia.

Sedation: General anesthesia.

Procedure time: 30-120 minutes.
