Professor
Director, Image-Guided Bio-Molecular Interventions Research

Along with clinical service and teaching, research constitutes one of the key components in the interventional radiology (IR) at UW Radiology. Faculty research interests span a broad spectrum of clinical practices and innovative technical developments. IR members are able to collaborate with national and international colleagues with expertise in a variety of fields, including biomedical engineering, molecular biology, pathology, nanotechnology, applied physics of MR and ultrasound, as well as optics, electronic engineering, chemistry, and computer sciences. The concept of “image-guided bio-molecular interventions” incorporates cath-lab-based, image-guided, minimally-invasive interventions with molecular-cellular imaging.  This emerging field is opening new avenues to prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment of diseases through interventional radiology.

Image-Guided Bio-Molecular Interventions Research team consists of physicians and medical-related professionals, with its primary goal of facilitating clinical translation of innovative imaging and interventional technologies. Image-Guided Bio-Molecular Intervention Research team locates at South Lake Union Campus of University of Washington. The NIH Biosafety-level II wet labs, approximately 2000-sq ft, include 8 biological benches, 2 cell culture rooms, a chemical room with a fume hood, an imaging-surgical suite, a microscopy/optical imaging room, and a workshop space for manufacturing of interventional devices and imaging coils.
