Our annual volunteer day at Marra Farm, an organization dedicated to sustainable agriculture and education, and local food security. Every year our residents gather on a Saturday to help out at the farm: weeding, planting and picking vegetables.
Residents and faculty participate in the Seattle/King County Clinic held at Key Arena for 4 days in Seattle. Free medical services were provided to 2,944 patients. Radiology residents and faculty volunteered providing radiography, ultrasound and mammography services. Our own department chair and residency program director, Drs. Beauchamp and Paladin, were the medical directors for this amazing event.
Our residents have the opportunity to travel abroad in their final year to provide services in resource-poor settings. Vicky Nguyen, class of 2015, traveled to Naivasha, Kenya where she and a colleague, Shirley Chou, performed and interpreted radiographs and ultrasound, participated in hospital rounds with the internal medicine team and taught local doctors and medical staff about image interpretation.
Jarrod Dale, class of 2014, participates in the global health initiative in Africa.
